Jim Gaffigan is such a funny comedian. We love that he takes everyday challenges of parenthood and makes a joke out of them. Jim and his wife both come from big families and now they have a big family of their own with five kids in tow. He reminds us that sometimes fatherhood can be tough and to thank our dads. This quote had us cracking up. “Be nice to your dad. Most of fatherhood feels like going through customs with an outdated passport.”

Jim and his wife are always taking the kids with them when he has comedy. It is a awesome way for their kids to explore the world and see what is out there. It’s so awesome that he gets to take his kids with him on his trips. I find it great that they both make it work together to be a family and spend that valuable time together even while working.

We love how he has such a realistic view of parenting that we can really relate too. One of his funniest quotes has to be “Bedtime makes you realize how completely incapable you are of being in charge of another human being. My children act like they’ve never been to sleep before. “Bed? What’s that? No, I’m not doing that.” They never want to go to bed. This is another thing that I will never have in common with my children. Every morning when I wake up, my first thought is, “When can I come back here?” It’s the carrot that keeps me motivated. Sometimes going to bed feels like the highlight of my day.” How true is that! We always are ready to go to bed and yet it seems like my kids always want to play, play, play.

Jim is such a great dad and a funny guy. He has said, “ Failing and laughing at your own shortcomings are the hallmarks of a sane parent.” It’s something we always have to remind ourselves. Parenting is messy and we will never be perfect, so its good to be able to laugh at the small stuff.  It’s easy to see why we picked him for our kudos dad of the month. Thank you, Jim Gaffigan, for helping us see the humor in parenting. Love, laugh and parent on!
